A lady with ‘not much’ to offer—
No youthful fair form, gold in coffer—
Wise, resisted insistence on paltry romance
With popular swain late arrived at grand dance
Who, vapid and vain, heartless mocked her
I didn’t know where this prompt was going when I began writing in the wee hours, but it turned into a ‘mini-sermon’ from wisdom I learned painfully. Since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, “love” is in the air—and sometimes we can feel too desperate for it. At 65, may I tell you something?
If you settle for second-best just so you won’t be alone, you’ve signed on for less than you deserve. God highly values you, wants the very best for you…and life is a long hard haul when we settle for “less”. Guard your heart, pray for His guidance in love and all things…and He will bless you.♥
